The Art of Modern Tea Ceremony
How do you like to spend your time when you’re drinking tea?
If you love tea as much as we do, there’s a good chance that you love to share your special tea time with someone.
The ceremony of tea is ancient. Tea ceremony has been delicately woven into history to become an intrinsic part of many different cultures around the world.
When you drink tea, you want to feel warm, cozy and comfortable. Drinking tea is a great chance to take a moment out of your day, whether it’s to reflect or have a meaningful conversation with someone.
The Tea Collective grew a company out of their passion for the art of ceremony. They know that since the year dot, people have participated in the social ceremony of tea.
This is because ceremony is how we connect with our nearest and dearest and celebrate life with them. It’s how we honor important moments in our lives.
You don’t want to rush your tea drinking experience – you want to savor it. You want to get lost in the moment of ceremony and focus on the connection you have with the person in front of you over a warm cup of delicious tea leaves.
Becci Fowler founded The Tea Collective because she saw the need for this type of ceremony to be preserved in society. So often these days we find it difficult to slow down and pause in our days. We jump from one thing to the next without so much as a thought for replenishment and connection.
Becci chose coffee over tea because she knows that the process takes longer. If you have a beverage that is going to take time to create, you really have to commit to it. This leaves you no choice but to take some time for it.
Bonding with others is a great way to take care of your overall wellbeing. Sharing a sensory experience with someone can help to calm your body while simultaneously stimulating your mind.
Becci understands your need for time and knows that there’s never enough of it. She created the Tea Collective because she wanted to create a space where people could just be.
Whether you are reading or chatting with a companion, she wants to make you feel like you’re curled up on your best friend’s couch.
She wants The Tea Collective to be about learning as much as it is about resetting. While you’re in that sacred space of security and pleasure, Becci wants to enlighten you on the contents of your cup.
What types of teas can you hope to experience at The Tea Collective?
White Tea: white tea is an invigorating type of tea that sits on the lower end of the scale in terms of temperature. This means that it is best enjoyed between 80 and 90 degrees Celsius. White tea needs to be left to steep for at least 2 minutes and thirty seconds. Because white tea is a strong flavor, you can allow for up to three infusions from one cup.
Black and Chai Tea: Black and Chai teas are the only tea families that are recommended served with milk. They are best enjoyed at a temperature that sits on the upper end of the scale at 100 degrees Celsius. If you prefer a weaker tea, it’s recommended that you steep for 3 minutes – for stronger tea, try five minutes. Black and Chai teas are suitable for one infusion.
Oolong Tea: Oolong tea is found in the middle of the temperature scale, sitting at a comfortable 85-95 degrees Celsius. This may be the most potent tea available and can last for up to five infusions. It’s recommended that you steep Oolong tea between 2-4 minutes.
The Tea Collective is making waves in the world of tea, winning Best Tea Menu in Australia, and Best Tea House in NSW within six months of opening its flagship store in Newcastle. If you live too far away from here and aren’t able to make a trip anytime soon, you can also order Tea Collective teas online.
Whether you love taking a moment at the kitchen bench and reflecting on your day so far or connecting with a friend who equally loves tea, The Tea Collective is rooting for you. They want every moment you have with your tea to be valuable and memorable.
Who says that ceremony is a lost art? With the world speeding up and showing no signs of slowing down, it’s more important now than ever that you feel free to reflect on what’s going on in life.
There’s no better way to do this than with a perfectly steeped tea. Plus, the more times you infuse your leaves, the longer you’ll have to reset.
